Looking for a gallery wall layout that will impress your guests? Try out one of these gallery wall ideas – they’ll guaranteed to turn some heads! From large wall hanging arrangements to gallery walls with sconces, I’ve got you covered!

Framed art is the perfect addition to any space, but it can be tricky to put together a gallery wall with the perfect picture size combinations. Not to worry – I’ve got 7 gallery wall ideas to inspire your next picture hanging arrangement.

Some of the final steps in my upstairs hallway makeover are to finalize my gallery wall and replace the heinous boob lights. In my hunt for gallery wall inspiration I found so many stunning designs that I just HAD to share. I’m confident that with a mix of thrifted finds and art collected from my travels I can create a beautiful, yet meaningful hallway gallery wall.

1) Small Gallery Wall Layout with (mainly) 11 x 14 Frames

For a smaller wall, this template would be perfect! I also love the simplicity of the frames which include, mainly, 11 x 14s and only one larger 16 x 20 frame.

2) Wall Hanging Photo Arrangement with a Sconce

I totally dig this asymmetric gallery wall design! The single sconce is so unexpected, but somehow still feels balanced.

You could get really creative with the sconce you use. (My favorite sconces post coming soon…) From what I’ve found, most sconces are about the size of an 8 x 10 frame. So any of these designs with a vertically oriented 8 x 10 frame could easily be swapped out for a fun sconce. Or vice versa, you could throw in a vertical 8 x 10 frame in place of the asymmetric sconce in the gallery wall template below.

3) Medium Sized Gallery Wall Design

For a more space occupying design, this medium sized gallery wall still has the simplicity of only 3 different sized frames.

I love how centering this picture hanging combo with three 16 x 20 frames grounds the layout perfectly.

4) Large Gallery Wall Template with Sconces

If you’re into a symmetric, classic gallery wall look, this may be your winner. Framing the gallery wall with sconces is icing on the cake for me.

This design is the perfect symmetrically asymmetric combination.

5) Classic Photo Hanging Design with Variety of Frame Sizes

This is a great, versatile option. You’re bound to have a few of these frames sizes already in your home, whether it’s thrifted or a frame in need of an updated photo.

6) Large and Small Frame Gallery Wall Combination

This gallery wall template is another great option of you’re looking to use a variety of small and large frames. In need of some of these frame sizes? Michaels makes it easy to shop by frame size.

7) Large, Squared-off Gallery Wall Layout

Into the asymmetric symmetric look like I am? I’m swooning over this one! Add some sconces for a fun frame to your frames (get it?) or leave as is for a beautiful squared-off traditional look.

  1. Hi
For your different gallery’s, are you putting the frames 2 or 3 inches apart or just putting them all different?

Great question! I didn’t the distance specifically, but for mine I just focused on lining the frames up where it felt right (like on the bottom/ top of the grouping). So they prob are all different distances.
