Dying for some beautiful vintage art for your home, but prefer a budget friendly option that’s super unique? This post will teach you everything you need to know about DIY vintage art!
I created this custom vintage-looking art for only $35! The perfect vintage art piece for a space can be hard to find and a vintage look alikes can be expensive. With this DIY vintage art dupe you’ll be able to surround yourself with meaningful art that is also stylish.
Art should be personal!
Whether it moves you or invokes a deep memory, I’m passionate about surrounding yourself with decor that you love and creates a sense of homeyness. It was important to us that it be personal and meaningful. We had taken a trip to the Teton’s last year and I wanted to incorporate those memories in our bedroom decor.
Hunt down the right frame
I started by hunting down the right size frame for above the bed from the local Habitat Restore. Finding the perfect size and style frame for your DIY vintage art takes some patience. I’m pretty sure it took 2-3 trims to find THE ONE.
Keep in mind – if you find the right size frame, but don’t love the color, you can always use some spray paint and/or rub-n-buff to customize it to your liking.
Make edits in Snapseed app
Once I had my frame selected I opened up the photo from our trip in Snapseed and used the vintage filter to give it a vintage look.
Print at Walgreens or Kinkos
I then had it printed at Walgreens in the suitable size for the frame and Voila! A custom, meaningful vintage print for a very reasonable price! It’s a little pixilated, but I think it adds to the vintage look.

Love this, Jess! We have several photographs from trips we’ve taken in our home. Also, have paintings from street artists from our travels abroad. Love the unique art and the memories it invokes! After all, art is supposed to elicit an emotion/reaction, right? Beautiful photograph! Great share!
Exactly! & as pretty as target pics are they just don’t create the same homey feel, do they?
Such a great idea! I would love to do this. Going to start keeping my eye out for a frame!
Yes! Thrift stores have so many inexpensive frames. Sometimes with really ugly prints in them 😍
